The American country rock band The Mamas & The Papas is the folk rock vocal group of the 1960s. They were founded in 1964 and lasted until 1968 and were briefly compounded in 1971. They issued a total of five studio albums and 17 singles and had nearly 40 million sales in the world. In 1998, they were formally elected to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

If You Can Believe Your Eyes and Ears was ranked 127th in the 500 albums of the Rolling Stones. This album was invincible in the United States in 1966 and ranked third in the UK. Many of the album' s songs are popular, especially the California Dreaming, which was known to more people in the Wong Kar-wai' s classic movie "Chungking Express," but many people do not know the source of the song. Its band member Phillips also create a song called San Francisco for the folk singer for Scott McKenzie, and it eventually became the theme song for Forrest Gump.

If You Can Believe Your Eyes and Ears专辑在滚石杂志评出的500张历代专辑中排名第127位。

This song San Francisco in Forrest Gump comes from The Mamas & the Papas. It may not be that many people have heard of this rock band and may not have heard of it. The movie "Forrest Gump" in 1994 can be said to thoroughly popular this song. At that time, Adler asked the band member John Phillips to write a theme song for a publicity festival. Phillips was inspired to write the song San Francisco in less than an hour time.

Although music became very abstract under the influence of the anti-cultural trend of the West Coast at the time. But The Mamas & the Papas cleverly combined the content of popular and serious music in their works. In 1967, the band won two awards for Grammy's Best Creation and Best Pop Band of the Year for their excellent performance on "Monday, Monday." In June, the band participated in the Monterey Pop Festival held on the West Coast.

The song of the film "The Forrest Gump" was released in the United States on July 6, 1994. The film was adapted from the same-name novel published by the American writer Winston Groom in 1986. It depicted the boy named Forrest Gump, who has congenital mental retardation and live relying on his own spirit and strength. But Silly People Have Silly Good Fortune, he has got the lord’ s love eventually and created marvelous and inspirational storied in many fields. After the film was released, he won six awards in 1995, including the Oscar for Best Picture, Best Actor Award, and Best Director Award.

The song told the audience: “If you are going to San Francisco, be sure to wear some flowers in your hair,” so this song brought thousands of young people to San Francisco, California in the late 1960s. This song was released on May 13, 1967, and it became a hit at that time. In the ending week of July 1, 1967, the song reached the fourth place on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States, where it remained constant for four weeks. At the same time, the song rose to the top in the UK singles chart and most of Europe. The single is said to have sold more than 7 million copies worldwide. In Central Europe, young people used “San Francisco” as a hymn for freedom and played extensively during the spring uprising in Prague in 1968 in Czechoslovakia.
